“To provide opportunities for all students to develop attitudes, skills and knowledge to be lifelong learners”

Poroutawhao School is a full primary state school. The roll in recent year has fluctuated between 120 and 130 students. Recent role growth saw us peak at 154 students at the end of 2016. We currently operate six multi-level classes from Year 0 to Year 8. There are six permanent teaching positions, including a Deputy Principal. The staff also includes a permanent part-time Office Manager, two part-time Teacher Aides, and a Caretaker.

Poroutawhao School has almost 3 times the area of other schools per student so there is no shortage of space to learn and play.

Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme, (a copy of which you will find at the bottom of this page)

The school's catchment area includes the surrounding farming district from Moutua-Foxton to the North, State Highway 1 / Kawiu Road To the south , including the settlement of Poroutawhao, and West to Waitarere Beach where many of our pupils reside.

We can accept students from outside this area when places are available. This is in accordance with the Ministry of Education enrolment scheme guidelines.
